Press Release Body = Virginia College School of Construction recently received classification as Registered Apprenticeship Training Provider from the U.S. Department of Labor for both its Electrician and Carpentry programs.
The registered programs combine on-the-job training and related classroom instruction where individuals learn both practical and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation. Programs are only registered when they meet a set of federal Department of Labor standards.
"This is important for the school in that we are now recognized both as an NCCER Accredited Training Education Facility and a registered program by the U.S. Department of Labor. This will enable us to follow our students\' progress from the classroom to the job site," says Keith Risman, Campus Director.
Students enrolled at the Virginia College School of Construction may complete training for a certificate, a diploma or an associate\'s degree. The curricula include classroom work as well as developing hands-on skills by actually building a structure in the school\'s facility using the techniques, tools and equipment students will encounter in the workplace.
